About SwitchMyFile

SwitchMyFile converts images, PDFs and audio for free, without uploading your files. Most converters online send your file to a server, convert it there and send it back. That means waiting for the upload, trusting a stranger's server with your documents and photos, and hoping the copy gets deleted.

We took the other route. The conversion code comes to your browser instead of your file going to a server. A scanned contract, a family photo or a voice memo stays on your device from start to finish.

What works today

Images (JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, BMP, SVG) to JPG, PNG, WEBP or PDF. PDF pages to JPG or PNG. Audio and the sound track of videos (MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, FLAC, MP4, MOV, WEBM) to MP3 or WAV.

What is coming

Some conversions need more than a browser can do, such as turning a PDF back into an editable Word document or re-encoding video. Those will run on a server engine that is in development. Each of them will say clearly that the file is uploaded before you use it.
